In modern automotive industry, electrical/ electronic components are widely used . Avoiding unacceptable risk caused by random failure or system failure should be taken into account by design engineers. The ISO26262, adaptation of the IEC61508 for automotive electric/electronic systems, is aimed at providing a solution about functional safety issues. Based on a common risk approach, ISO26262 helps the entire supply chain when dealing with functional safety issues. The standard takes into account all entities involved in safety functions of a road vehicle. As soon as a function is defined – at the vehicle level, an assessment shall be performed to prove that the functional safety is achieved. ISO26262 is taken into considered by more and more automotive and parts suppliers.
- Product concept design assessment
- Calculation of probability of failure
- Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
- Determination of automotive safety integrity level (ASIL)
- Software assessment and environmental tests (including EMC)
- Fault insertion testing
- Review of documentation, including user documentation and
- safety manual
FUNCTIONAL SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM CERTIFICATION
ISO 26262 standards outline the requirements for functional safety management and functional safety assessment, as well as those for the documentation of these procedures. It is reasonable and effective to integrate and certify the methods of a functional safety management system not only together with single safety projects but also with the entire company and its organizational structures.
Bureau Veritas has developed a certification system for company-wide functional safety management. According to defined procedures, we can certify companies existing safety management systems. We can also support our customers in setting up and implementing a functional safety management system for their companies
FUNCTIONAL SAFETY ENGINEER TRAINING
Participants in the functional safety programme who pass the ISO 26262training exam, and have more than 3 years related working experiences, will be awarded a FS engineer qualification. Functional safety in which knowledge and competencies are approved by a neutral third party and after which certificates are issued. The names of all qualified FS engineers will be listed on the website.
