Bureau Veritas attended SNEC PV POWER EXPO, hoping to safeguard green energy security

2021 Jun 7

Bureau Veritas ("BV") participated in the SNEC 15th (2021) International Photovoltaic Power Generation and Smart Energy Conference and Exhibition held in Shanghai on June 3 to 5. It attracted nearly 1,400 PV companies from 95 countries and regions all over the world, exhibiting leading technology and system equipment covering every section of the whole PV industry chain. SNEC is the professional PV trade show with incomparable influence in the world.

As a world leader in testing, inspection, certification and quality management services for the whole PV industry chain, Bureau Veritas unveiled an integrated solution for PV in-service risk and quality management services at the exhibition. Its core technology team is jointly developed by Bureau Veritas and New Energy Testing Laboratory of East China University of Science and Technology. It can provide Intelligent operation and maintenance management services for high-tech photovoltaic power plants that comprises emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, Industrial Internet of Things, and big data mining.

On the afternoon of June 3, Mr. Tian Lei, Vice General Manager of Power, Utilities & Industry, Bureau Veritas, and Dr. Hao Guoqiang, Executive Vice Director of the New Energy Testing Laboratory of East China University of Science and Technology, as representatives of both parties, signed the cooperation agreement and attended awarding ceremony.

The climate targets set by the Chinese government for 2030 and 2060 created great investment and development opportunities for the renewable energy and traditional power industries. As a key participant in the energy transition, Bureau Veritas is involved in all key stages of the renewable and alternative energy chain, helping clients through sustainable design, construction and asset operations.

The domestic photovoltaic industry is developing very fast, especially when inspired by the goal to "peak carbon dioxide emissions" and "achieve carbon neutrality". Bureau Veritas always believe in the power of photovoltaic as the main force to achieve carbon neutrality. The market is booming, both from the aspect of national policy and the enterprise planning.

However, photovoltaic is developed so fast that there are some hidden dangers. Now, a large number of stock of photovoltaic power plants in China keep operating for so many years that there exist problems like potential quality hazard and inefficiency. The cooperation between Bureau Veritas and the New Energy Testing Laboratory of East China University of Science and Technology is an exclusive solution for the pain points of the industry. By analysing big data, we get to know that DC arc faults on the back of PV modules are prone to fire hazards. Therefore, Bureau Veritas and Huali introduced the method for detection of DC arc faults. The innovation method is to solve the industry's problems and create a safe way for detecting. The detecting method has already been put into use in Shanghai and its surrounding areas with good results.

Bureau Veritas is a "Business to Business to Society" (B2B2S) services company. Our mission is to contribute to changing the world we live in. " It is committed to shaping a better world.  Sustainability is embedded into our strategy, our entire organization, and across all our businesses. To answer the call for a green environment, Bureau Veritas puts forward a "Green Line of services and solutions" to contribute to the protection of the planet, and is committed to sustainable development in various product lines. Apart from PV, Bureau Veritas is also energetically developing in wind power, energy storage, hydrogen energy and other energy fields to help build a green earth.
