【Together】Dialogue -- Interaction between Basic Education and International System

Educational and training institutions need a specific and designated management system standard to help them assess the extent to which they meet the requirements of trainees, other beneficiaries and other relevant parties, and to enable them to continuously improve their capabilities. In April, BV issued the first National Certificate of ISO 21001 education management system for Zhuguang Primary School in Nanshan District of Shenzhen City, which set a milestone in the internationalization of education in China. 

Zhuguang Primary School is an 83-year-old urban village primary school. The students are not demonstrating extraordinary academic performances. The school buildings are slightly outdated, and the school has no money to introduce top teachers. However, the school was recognized by BV as the 1st in a row, thanks to a series of systematic management measures implemented in the past six years, which has made it rapidly form its own characteristics, improve students' comprehensive literacy and academic performance, and expand its social influence. It has become a high-quality school with outstanding chracteristics in Nanshan District. It won the Nanshan Government Quality Award in 2016 and this year, for the first time in China, it has obtained ISO International Education Management System 21001 certificate. 

What is ISO 21001? 

ISO 21001: 2018 Educational Organization – Educational Organization Management System – Requirements and Guidelines (EOMS), issued by the International Standards Organization (ISO), is a voluntary international standard, which requires educational and training institutions to establish an educational organization management system in accordance with the standards in order to reveal the weak links in the process of providing educational services, fully understand the expectations of students and other beneficiaries, improve the quality of educational services of the organization, enhance the satisfaction and loyalty of students and other beneficiaries, and ensure the competitive edge of educational and training institutions.

Zhuguang Primary School was founded in 1936. From an ancestral temple primary school with only ten students and one teacher, it has developed into a modern school, equipped with an ecological and scholarly campus full of smart innovation. In 2019, Nanshan District has set a goal to upgrade Nanshan education to world-class level. We take this opportunity to invite third parties to realize the separation of management and assessment.
