Bureau Veritas ("BV" for short), as a world-renowned testing, inspection and certification organization, was invited to participate in the summit and set up a booth to exhibit its services. Mr. Zhang Li, Sustainability Program Manager of BV China, delivered a keynote speech entitled "ESG and Environmental Information Disclosure".
Mr. Zhang Li said: With the rapid growth of economy, the world is facing increasingly severe negative impacts on climate, environment, resources, etc. Nowadays, thanks to the increasing public concern of the environmental issues and the continuous improvement of environment-related laws and regulations, companies are becoming aware that environmental performance may also affect their financial performance. In this context, perspectives such as sustainable ESG, green manufacturing and carbon neutrality are gradually receiving the public concern. As an investment philosophy and corporate evaluation criteria concerning environmental, social and governance performance rather than financial performance, ESG is a key factor influencing investors' decisions and measuring corporate sustainability. The ESG sustainability reports refer to the voluntary and non-financial disclosure of companies' sustainable development strategies, performances and targets from the three aspects of economy, environment and society. The information disclosure of ESG reports demonstrates companies' commitment to social responsibility and environment; the verification of ESG reports ensures the accuracy of disclosed information and improves the credibility of reports; the companies with excellent ESG performance will attract more investors in the investment market. BV ESG service solutions can assist companies to improve their abilities to control economic, environmental and social risks through governance, identification and control so as to create an environment friendly society.
