From October 31 to November 2, the third Heritage Preservation International was held in Shanghai. Bureau Veritas was an honoured participant in the event and delivered a keynote speech on "construction of management mode for historical building protection projects".
Under the theme of "joint efforts in heritage preservation and social development", HPI showcased cultural heritage preservation industry with wide participation of the whole society, which reflected the important role cultural heritage preservation plays in social development, and appealed to the whole society to work together in preservation of common cultural heritage.
Since the promulgation and implementation of the new Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Cultural Relics in 2002, China's cultural relics preservation has undergone tremendous changes. From pure preservation of cultural relics, it has gradually turned its focus on display and utilization as well as preservation, with a comprehensive account of the social benefits attached thereof, highlighting the role of preservation in promoting social development.
Wang Fucheng, manager of Construction Preservation Project Department of Bureau Veritas: Shanghai JTU Engineering Service Co., Ltd, the only class A qualification unit for supervision of cultural relics preservation projects in Shanghai, as well as a member of Bureau Veritas, has been engaged in project management services for preservation and renovation projects since 2002, boasting of its colloboration with many national cultural relics preservation units. In recent years, through integration of group resources, we have comprehensively expanded engineering technical consultation of preservation and renovation, the whole project management process and construction supervision services. Meanwhile, we provide new digital tools for on-site and back-office experts to ensure more automation, efficiency, and better services for projects alike.
