BV Presents Digital Solutions At The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) To Support Stable Development of Food Supply Chain

2020 Nov 20

From November 17 to 18, 2020, The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) - China Day was successfully held in Hangzhou. This forum for the first time combines the four strategic themes of "Global Food Safety Initiative", "Health", "Sustainable Development" and "End-to-End Value Chain" in an innovative combination, striving to present a high-quality and high-level industry forum and impose positive impact on the whole consumer goods industry. It brings together industry experts, business and government representatives to discuss food safety standards and exchange management experience. Bureau Veritas (hereinafter referred to as BV), a world-famous third-party inspection and certification agency, set up a special booth on site and presented its latest digital service solutions for the food industry.

Today's supply chains are getting increasingly complex, and how to ensure the quality of products delivered to consumers has become a huge challenge presented to manufacturers. Especially in the food industry, food products will undergo a lot of processes before delivered to consumers, which will naturally increase the chance of quality and safety problems, and even lead to product recall or major health problems. The introduction of digital technologies such as blockchain into the food industry is expected to bring  revolutionary changes to the whole industry, including improving the efficiency, transparency and cooperation capacity of the food business system. Based on the demand of the current food market, BV has integrated and launched digital solutions for the food industry, including ORIGIN Blockchain Traceability, SAFESUPPLY Supply Chain Risk Management, and SAFEOPS Intelligent Audit and Guidance.

ORIGIN label service is a solution provided by BV based on blockchain traceability. By identifying the identification labels on products, consumers can easily obtain all historical information and trace the source of products; product manufacturers, suppliers and retailers can better control their supply chain, ensure product transparency in the supply chain, and improve product value. SAFESUPPLY is a network digital platform connecting large enterprises and suppliers. It can calculate and give specific risk score of each supplier based on the BV-audited and indentified supplier information input into the system, and automatically identify high-risk suppliers. SAFEOPS intelligent audit and guidance scheme can record the data of catering, hotels, supermarkets and other food retail scenarios. BV can provide customized services and guide stores to improve risk points based on real-time data on the spot.

With years of service experience in the food industry, BV has gain a strong capacity in helping each participant in the food value chain to achieve the highest standards in terms of quality, product integrity, health and safety, environment and social responsibility compliance, and can provide comprehensive services covering testing, inspection and audit. At the same time, BV is equipped with a large number of professional product inspectors and auditors who master a variety of food certification schemes, as well as a large number of food testing laboratories (physical, microbiological, chemical and DNA testing) all over the world, and are highly recognized by customers.
