Quality Upgrading Summit of Bureau Veritas: Third Party Helps Enterprises Develop with High Quality

In June 29, 2018, Bureau Veritas, an internationally famous third party advisory body combined with testing, inspection, certification and technical services, held a quality upgrading summit themed “Inheriting Excellence & Winning Future” in Shanghai. In the summit, a range of hot topics have been talked about: from the concern of quality promotion, the development of the regions along the Belt & Road, digital innovations, the interpretation of changes and opportunities today’s enterprises face in quality, health, safety, environment and social responsibility, to the development trend of TIC(testing, inspection, certification) industry. Nearly 300 guests, including government officials, academics and executives, were invited to participate in the summit.

Wang Xun, Senior vice president, CEO, Greater China, Commodity, Industrial and Facilities, Bureau Veritas, said in the forum that 2018 is the 190th anniversary since the establishment of the group, the 25th anniversary since it was introduced in China, and also the 40th anniversary since China’s reform and opening up. Thus “brand and quality” has replaced “product and speed”, becoming the most concerned topic in China and even in the world. The final embodiment of the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry is the upgrading of the quality and the brand of the enterprise. As a professional institution with global network and local resources, Bureau Veritas is honored to bring world advanced technology and experience to China, providing high quality cases and services for the high-quality development.

In response to the “Belt & Road” initiative, we need to make full use of the global network covering more than 55 countries to help enterprises overcome the barriers to overseas technical trades and promote the export of Chinese industrial products, mentioned Wang Xun. Opening up overseas markets in this way not only helps enterprises to certify their products, but also helps them to export capital, technologies and even standards, and provide related information services for legal, cultural and policy support.

In his view, China is a big manufacturing country, and is now moving towards a powerful nation in manufacturing and quality, thus becoming an original country for technical standards. Bureau Veritas will adopt cutting-edge technologies in the world and its years’ practical experience to help China achieve the goal of intelligent manufacturing and creation.

Chen Xiaojun, deputy director general of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality & Technical Supervision, said in his speech that Shanghai, as the leader of the reform and opening up and the pioneer of innovation and development, should follow the national overall demand for quality and brand development, based on market demand as the guidance, and innovation and development as the motive force, fully carrying out the quality promotion activities and broadening the influences of the “four brands” of Shanghai. In this process, the role of the third party institutions such as Bureau Veritas is particularly important.

Fu Wenbiao from the Development Research Center of the State Administration for Market Regulation shared the speech “Transferring Mutual Trust and Offering Services for High Quality Development”. He believed that certification, accreditation, testing and inspection are the important support for the high quality development of enterprises in the new era, and is also the objective requirement for enterprises to go abroad and move to a higher development stage.

Ms. Ge Hongmei from the Certification and Accreditation Administration of China, and Dong Deshan, deputy secretary general of the China Certification and Accreditation Association also made speeches respectively entitled “Promoting the Construction of Quality Power and Offering Services for Innovation of the Market Supervision” and “Promoting Supply-side Reform with Standard Certification and Helping Enterprises to Go Abroad”. Wang Xuejun, vice president and secretary general of China Construction Supervision Association, shared the New Blueprint for the Cooperation of Multinational Enterprises and the Construction Consulting Industry of China.

Focusing on opportunities and challenges with the development of  One Belt One Road

With the construction of the One Belt One Road, Chinese enterprises’ going-out pace has been sped up. Chinese enterprises export high-end equipment and advanced technologies along the One Belt One Road. In this process, quality, health, safety and environment factors should be effectively controlled. In the “QHSE under development of OBOR” panel discussion part, Bureau Veritas’ bridge role in the development has been recognized because it helps Chinese enterprises overcome the barriers to  overseas technological trades and provides important support for the export of industrial products and overseas development.

Digital change brings new breakthroughs to  traditional industries
